Bronx rapper Remy Ma was today (March 27) convicted on four charges including assault and attempted coercion by a Manhattan jury and is now facing up 25 years in prison.
As reported earlier, Remy was accused of shooting Makeda Barnes-Joseph in her vehicle outside a Manhattan nightspot in 2007 after they got into a dispute over money missing from the rapper's purse.
Remy was initially charged with attempted murder but the charges were dropped to assault, witness tampering and gang assault.
The witness tampering and the gang assault charges stemmed from an August 2007 attack on the boyfriend of a witness at a Bronx nightclub which prosecutors claimed Remy orchestrated with the help of her male friends.
According to The Associated Press, Remy was convicted Thursday on two counts of first-degree assault, attempted coercion, and criminal possession of a weapon.
She was not found guilty of gang assault and witness tampering.
Remy reportedly broke down when her verdict was read. She was lead out of the courtroom in handcuffs and will remain jailed without bail until her sentencing on April 23.
