Yeah the state of Florida is putting in work right now being one of the hottest movements in the southern scene right now. One thing we can’t forget though is Atlanta is one of the originals that held it down first in the southern takeover. Once again you have to give all that love to the DJ for helping put the limelight on the city getting the music out off gate. Proud of her city and always to put it on for her city is DJ Princess Cut. Atlanta is where it’s at and to see it at the top of the hip-hop pinnacle makes her work the extra mile.

Sixshot.com: You call yourself Princess Cut, but where the name Sweet Box Jones comes from?

DJ Princess Cut: [Laughs], Sweet Box Jones comes from just feeling good one day. I came up with the name with a few friends and it makes me feel good. I like it’s old school feel to it, you never know what may come out of the sweet box.

Sixshot.com: So I see a lot of people might like that name, especially the guys out here?

DJ Princess Cut: [Laughs], right.

Sixshot.com: You have a lot of respect as a DJ in Atlanta, what was it that got you to this level as a DJ?

DJ Princess Cut: It just took years of grinding from my work. I started off doing parties and doing things for myself. Grinding from my heart and people saw that my grind was serious. People have to see that your serious and know what your doing.

Sixshot.com: You did shows in Saudi Arabia and many places all over the world. Is it really a different crowd overseas compared to the United States?

DJ Princess Cut: It’s really different. I like being in the states, but I love being out of the country. When your overseas it’s a totally different feeling. Usually it’s a lot more people in the crowd, it’s more of a arena style crowd. Going overseas and being able to interact with different cultures to see how they respond.

Sixshot.com: Would you say they are way more amped up as a crowd overseas?

DJ Princess Cut: [Laughs], I guess it depends on what’s going on. Overseas they be really happy to see people from the states, especially if you come along with an artist who they love at the same time.

Sixshot.com: Atlanta has been doing they thing in hip-hop, especially putting out a lot of top artist that’s in the game right now. With you being a DJ how you feel to be a part of the Atlanta movement?

DJ Princess Cut: I feel like it’s 100 percent great! I grew up in Atlanta and to see it on top is definitely a beautiful thing. For me to be a DJ and to interact with these artists that are on top is hot. Seeing the evolution of my city is a beautiful thing. It’s good being from the city and knowing that when I was growing up it was a big New York influence, west coast influence. Being a DJ and able to work with these artist is so great you know.

Sixshot.com: So I know you gonna support Jeezy since he just came out this week?

DJ Princess Cut: [Laughs], Yeah definitely. I’m feeling the Young Jeezy album, I think it’s a really good album and I’m actually on my way to the Young Jeezy album release party right now.

Sixshot.com: You got a degree in psychology so what school you went to?

DJ Princess Cut: Georgia State.

Sixshot.com:  What your take on female DJ’s making a big presence in the industry?

DJ Princess Cut: I think the female DJ’s are doing they thing, our presence in the music game I’m loving it.

Sixshot.com: I did some research and saw on your MySpace you did some work with the Outlaws, talk more on that?

DJ Princess Cut: Right the Outlaws actually lead me to my drop that we were talking about earlier overseas. I was their DJ overseas and we was doing the Tupac 'Still Breathing t'our, everybody went crazy over there, because everybody loved Pac. The Outlaws came up under Pac and they just released an album.

Sixshot.com: Well you know Tupac had a great influence on hip-hop.

DJ Princess Cut: Yeah it was definitely a blessing to be in the presence of those cats, because it felt like being in the presence of Pac.

Sixshot.com: Do you represent any DJ crews?

DJ Princess Cut:  "I have relationships with all of the DJ crews from Southern Style, Def Djs, Superfriends, Legion of Doom, Aphilliates, & Core Djs. Do I think DJ crews are beneficial? If everyone is contributing something & not just mere presence, then yes, its beneficial. But personally I am a loner, I stand alone, and have been productive in getting things done myself. So, it just depends on personal preference.

Sixshot.com: Any last words for your fans?

DJ Princess Cut: Make sure you vote for me at southernentawards.com as I got nominated for “Female DJ of the Year” for 2008. For artist that want to send me mp3’s send to info@sweetboxjones.com
