Young Jeezy and Outkast Appreciate Acknowledgment By Olympian Michael PhelpsPosted: 8/20/2008 7:03:51 AM by Black widow Record breaking swimmer Michael Phelps has publicly claimed that his historic performances at the 2008 Beijing Olympics has been influenced by music from various rappers including Lil Wayne, Young Jeezy and Outkast. Phelps, 23, cemented his place as the greatest swimmer in history this year by becoming the first athlete to win eight gold medals at a single Olympics. Jeezy and Outkast recently responded to Phelps acknowledgment of their music to The Atlanta Journal-Constitution. Jeezy claims that Phelps' camp has reached out him and they plan to officially meet. “It would be great if I could holler at Phelps,” Jeezy told The Atlanta Journal-Constitution “It’s a compliment that that man found inspiration in the music I do for the streets over here, over there in Beijing”. Rap duo Outkast said they were delighted that Phelps was inspired by their music and also listed some of their tracks they feel could inspire athletes. “No 1. “B.O.B”; 2. “Gasoline Dreams” 3. “Bust” and 4. “Git Up, Git Out,” said Big Boi. “Oddly enough, ‘So Fresh, So Clean’ is a good one,” said Andre 3000. “Yes, [‘B.O.B.’] is another one. A rare Outkast track [on Stankonia] featuring Cee-Lo called ‘Speedballin’ is another.” |
