PLANS EXTINGUISHED

East Hampton Town officials have turned down Diddy's plans for a $100,000 fireworks show over East Hampton’s Northwest Harbor on Sept. 2, out of concern that the spectacle could draw boaters to a risky, rocky area.

Town Supervisor William McGintee said Diddy’s extravaganza also might have conflicted with another fireworks show planned nearby that night.

The hip hop mogul had planned all-white pyrotechnics to match the soiree’s dress code, said Fireworks by Grucci vice president Phil Butler.

The town did give Diddy a permit for the party, a sought-after stop on the summer social scene since the late 1990s.

Representatives for Diddy didn’t immediately return phone messages left at their offices early Wednesday.
